Paul joined Houghton International as Chief Executive Officer on February 15, 2008. He has over 40 years of diverse International leadership experience in building global speciality chemical and metalworking fluid businesses. His most recent focus has been on global acquisition integration, strategic business modelling, and performance improvement through process redesign. Before joining Houghton, Paul spent 12 years at Ashland Inc. in the Water Technologies Division, a global supplier of chemicals, water treatments and consulting services for the Municipal, Industrial and Marine Industries. He has served in multiple leadership roles at the company since he started in 1995 including Vice President International, Vice President and General Manager Drew Marine. He has also served in global sales, operations management and senior management roles at The Valspar Corporation, Unitor A/S and Drew Chemical Corporation. Paul began his career serving as an engineering officer in the United States Merchant Marine sailing container ships to more than 20 countries. He holds a B.S. degree in Marine Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and an M.B.A. from the University of Miami. He has completed the Executive Marketing Program at Northwestern's Kellogg School of Business and the Executive Development Program at Indiana University.
